Air Canada has changed from an earlier decision not to let Salman Rushdie, who is under a death threat for allegedly blaspheming Islam, fly on their airline, Canada's largest airline had said Monday that it barred Rushdie from their plans because they felt other passengers would be too inconvenienced by the security measures needed to protect the British author.
Iran's late revolutionary leader Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini issued a religious edict or "fatwa" in 1989 calling for Rushdie's death for his book "The Satanic Verses."
