Divorced Through "Facebook"

A wife has become first woman to be "divorced" through Facebook.

Emma Brady claims she only found out her six-year marriage was over when her husband posted a message on the social networking site.

It simply said: "Neil Brady has ended his marriage to Emma Brady."

Emma, 39, only learned she was dumped when her best friend from Denmark phoned to see if she was OK, reports the Daily Mirror.

One person from Canada wrote: “You are better off out of it.”

Conference manager Emma said: “I joined Facebook because girls at work said it was fun.“The first I knew about the break-up was when I got a call from a pal.”

Mum-of-one Emma, of Blackburn, said: "We were like any other couple. We had our ups and downs but as far as I knew things were fine between us.

"When I got the phone call I was shell-shocked. My first instinct was to phone him but my friends at work insisted I should speak to him face to face. He acted like everything was fine.

"This whole thing has been terrible. It's been humiliating having everything happen so publicly."

Yet in December, IT consultant Neil assaulted her at their home in Accrington, Lancs. He was fined £580 by JPs in Blackburn.

Neil, now living in Baxenden, Lancs, said: “Her behaviour was totally unreasonable. I’d been telling her for ages I wanted a divorce.”

Photographer offers divorce albums

Divorcing couples in Italy are flocking to a photographer who's offering to shoot a wedding-style album of their split.
Gianni Fasolini, from Valeggio sul Mincio, had the brainwave after reading that the divorce rate was going through the roof.
"People celebrate a marriage as a milestone in their lives, but a divorce is an important event too," he explained.
The 45-year-old added: "I have been doing photos of weddings and marriage ceremonies for years, day in and day out, and people told me they like having a photo marking important events in their lives.
"Then I got to thinking that maybe there would be some demand for people marking their divorces and so I started to offer photo sessions for freshly divorced couples - them smiling or shaking hands or in some cases even kissing.
"I advertised the offer and as soon as people found out about it they were queuing up at my shop for sessions."

Divorce + Kidny = Much Money

Women can't usually be trusted or ever pleased. No matter what you do. Dr. Richard Batista learned this the hard way. After generously donating his kidney to his wife in 2001, in order to 'help her health and re-ignite the fire in their marriage', he was left heart-broken when she asked for a divorce in 2005.
Apparently she had fallen in love with someone else and though he donated a kidney she had donated her heart elsewhere. That's the pickle but wait! There's more to this. Now, Dr. Richard Batista, New York's most popular one-kidney doctor, wants $1.5 million as a payment for acquiring his kidney.
He has threatened to take his wife to court. This spokeswoman for some Organ Donation Organization is stumped as she has never heard of something like this before. Judges are stumped and so are potential jurors.
Everyone claims to have never heard of such a thing. Hmmm…sounds familiar though. Replace kidney with heart, repeat procedure.

Divorce Letter was Mistake

A happily married couple were stunned to receive a solicitor's letter saying their divorce had been finalised.

John Kitteridge, 65, and wife Joan have been married for 36 years, reports the Sheffield Star.
Joan, 59, who burst into tears when she read the letter said: "I couldn't believe what I was reading. I knew deep down it couldn't be true but it was still such a shock.

"We've had our ups and downs like any couple! But we'd never get divorced."

Security guard John had been working nights and was in bed when the post arrived.
He said: "If it had been an old lady or an elderly man who had received it they could have suffered a heart attack. How does a mistake like that even happen?

"We dealt with the same solicitors three years ago on an unrelated legal matter, but everything should be on computers these days so it must have shown up that we weren't getting a divorce."
Sheffield-based Best Solicitors apologised and said the mistake had been made after a standard template letter was sent to the Kitteridges.

They said details inside the letter, referring to divorce, should have been changed but had been missed.
